Despite the hoopla, judge smacks down US women's soccer team

The USWNT are whiny brats. They will have every opportunity to rectify their contract when they renegotiate it. Until then, get on the pitch and STFU.

Or get off the pitch, go away and spare us all the drama. No one wants to watch them anyway.

The real issue is that what they really want is a cut of the FIFA money that the men get from the men’s World Cup, a competition in which they do not even participate. That is really what they are asking for. They want to be subsidized by the men. They want to have the best option from each compensation package and get all of the upside that the men have, while still keeping all of their guarantees and downside risk protection. Not only that, but these older USWNT players have negotiated guaranteed places for themselves such that there are only a few spots left for talented up a coming players to compete for on the team. Sounds really great for the development of the women’s game........Entitled, money grabbers.

But
Women and their work have been intrinsically undervalued for all of history. The idea of parity is new, and will take decades to correct. I don’t blame any women for becoming infuriated at the injustice of that.

No they haven’t. That’s a leftist lie.

Yes they are. You can’t possibly be that ignorant. It’s not only about dollar comparison of the same work. Work that is “women’s work”- childcare, teaching, domestic work... it’s is seen as less valuable by virtue of who traditionally performed the job.

Still false. Please regurgitate some more leftist talking points like a penguin full of half digested fish.

I provided a long, detailed response using stagehands as a clear example. Please feel free to digest that.

See prior post. The women's teams get 20% of all World Cup revenue versus approx 7% for the men. The difference is the men's Cup is popular. The women's, while more so than in the past, is not even close and doesn't generate a fraction of what the men's WC does.

This a very informative post. Thank you for the information.

Love to see the misogynistic pigs come out in force to berate strong female athletes. Time and again you show yourselves for what you are. Willing to accept double standards and sexism.

It’s not a double standard. It just is what it is. Look at the NBA Vs WNBA, for example. NBA just gets more views. More ratings= more money. This isn’t hard to understand.

I think women’s sports are great, but we can’t force the population to watch it.

Just stop. They are not being berated just because they are women. Being women does not exclude them from scrutiny.

Exactly. And the women's team want a cut of the MEN's World Cup pie/FIFA money, and are masking it as some kind of social justice issue.

That has nothing to do with this case. They were a bunch of whiny brats trying to renegotiate their contracts through the media with deceitful tactics. Such a nasty, entitled lot.

I've yet to meet a person who uses phrases like this to describe other people that is a kind and generous person worth spending time with. Regardless of how warranted the accusation is.

Bad behavior should be called out. Deal with it.

There are ways to call out bad behavior in way that doesn't scream that you're a cruel judgmental bigot. The words 'nasty' and 'entitled' are dead giveaways. Like I said, it doesn't really matter whether its true, the language says something about the speaker that is also true regardless of the target.

Troll.

They bring home gold medals.

They have won the World Cup four times.

The men never won any big tournaments.

Are you talking about the US? The US men’s team is terrible.

Yet the men’s team did not lose to a teenage all-star team from Texas.

People pay for excellence. That is why players in the NBA make more money than players in the G league, the European leagues, or the WNBA.
