An Indian/US study has identified a variant of the ACE2 protein (that generally regulates blood pressure) that makes some less susceptible to the virus. Seems it would also explain the high correlation of severe cases with high blood pressure. They seem optimistic that this could lead to useful therapies.

| Just realize multiple have tested positive, then negative, and then tested positive again. Don't assume you are immune. |
That’s also a sign that the tests themselves are garbage. They’ve been highly inaccurate since day one. |
I've been reading about this- there are four possibilities, most likely to least likely (from what I've read): 1. Test flaw 2. Virus dips for a short time below detectable levels then surges back up (maybe the patient didn't rest and recoup enough or a weaker immune system didn't clear all of the virus) 3. Virus reactivates (this is scary but less likely than scenario one or two)-- and would mean that a vaccine is the really the only way forward 4. Re-infection |
Hmm. I wonder if people who treat their high blood pressure with ace inhibitors have the same level risk as someone without the high blood pressure. |
Yeah, no - wingnut. His wife Ali Wentworth has been sick with Coronavirus for two weeks. The only people who seem to get priority testing with no symptoms are Trump, Pence, anyone in potential physical contact with Trump or Pence, Republican members of Congress, and well known athletes. How stupid do you have to be to think that the Clintons have any pull in this hopelessly corrupt administration? |
