Worried about kids' adjustment back to normal times

Don’t worry, it won’t be sudden and it won’t be long-lived. They’ll have over a year to adjust back.

Yep. My daughter had turned into a complete homebody and is THRILLED to be with just her parents and her older brother, even though DH and I both work full time from home now. Our jobs thus far haven’t been so terrible Hours-wise. She’s pre-k 4 and it’s going to be very rough sending her back to school, especially from 7:30-5:30 with before and after care! She was already not super psyched about after care before covid, and she is going to HATE it when she has to go back. My older son is also living his best life right now but he is much more of an extrovert and will be fine back at school.

Interesting... mine are around the age of yours OP, and they have also turned into homebodies and are liking it. We try to have occasions to mix it up. New family experiences. We used to be out and about a lot but oddly they don't seem to miss it. They miss friends a bit but FT playdate is a novelty. I think they like the unstructured part of this, that there's less rushing around at set times. That might be restful for their nervous systems.
