She and the husband separated in 2018. He didn’t get sick thanks to surgery (and she moved back in) until September 2019.

She's hasn't specified what type of surgery he had but has said that the surgery was successful, it was done two weeks prior to his death and that he had been recovering well from it. She stopped by in the evening to bring him some cookies, he said he was feeling sore and going to bed early so she left and came back the next morning to check on him. That is when she found him already passed away. His death was totally unexpected. She then called her sons and they came over to say goodbye to their dad. Later that afternoon around 4:00, someone from the house called (EMS?) to report his death.

Not if it was property he bought plus paid off pre-marriage and it was in his name. Considering that he was 40 when they married, he was with a prio ex-wife for 17 years, and he already had 4 other children - it’s highly likely.

They were together almost 30 years. Seems very unlikely that they bought nothing and he made no money during that time. I agree what he had pre-marriage (which I would think would have been the bulk of his earnings) should not be hers.

Sure - money she’s entitled to. It’s already clear he had $5 million to divide between six kids and three ex-wives (if she can claim it so can the others - 2 of the excluded kids already filed a lawsuit).

As for the home - their joint property is listed for sale for $12.5 million and has been on the market for over a year. Don’t know what the deal is there.

How would the ex-wives have a claim with his estate? Paulina was still legally married to him so I get that. But if they were selling their joint property, then that seems like it would cover what she would have gotten had they divorce moved forward. As for the older kids cut out from the will, too bad. It wasn’t a mistake, those were his wishes. I’m curious if they’ll have a legal leg to stand on since it seems clear that he wasn’t incapacitated prior to his death. He knew what he was doing.

She said he was too old - 20 years age difference. There are so many reasons why one should not marry an older guy. When I was little, my mom had a friend who married an older rich guy and she was miserable, missing out on life. My ex-bf's stepmom ran away with a younger guy because of lack of sex.

I am sure he had his reasons. Who knows how he was treated while he was alive. It is easy to disparage the dead, they can't defend themselves. She will get what she is legally entitled to. Beyond that it is 100% his choice what he does with the money. She traded him in for a younger version and is now mad the well ran dry. Women are more than capable of looking after themselves. We are equal to men. I hate the argument why well she was a woman so she needs to be looked after and taken car if by men. She can't possibly look after herself.

Yep. He had gotten too old for her and I don't think she wanted to become his full time caregiver.

So they separated and she got herself an energetic boyfriend that she could have fun with and she started to make a new life for herself. She knows why she left Ric and she also knows why he wrote her out of his will. She deserves whatever portion of their marital assets she was going to get in the divorce and nothing more than that.

They had been separated for years and were in the process of divorcing. Ric changed his will to reflect that.

But she was living with a new a boyfriend. She still claimed the marital home as her residence but it wasn't like she lived there. She clearly expected to get her half of that home and then when Ric died she seemed to be under the impression that she automatically got his share of the assets, too. She was mistaken.
