And she’s not really that torn up about if your kid is using xyz item. She likes finding bargains & thinks she is being helpful. When you accept her gift that is what you are accepting. Not hard

Next time you say “I’ll order it to make sure we get the one DS asked for, you can reimburse me.”

But the timeline of this whole thing is weird. Christmas was like 6 weeks ago - he had time to wait for a replacement and then save up the money to get his own in 6 weeks, and now it’s his birthday. Why didn’t you just replace the switch either on her behalf or for his birthday? It was 5 minutes ago.

I would stop giving her The real gift ideas. Just name a board game or something else that your kid does not really care that they get. Then it does not matter what she buys.
