What baby/child product do you think is overhyped to the point of annoying you?

Carriers. All of them. There was a time on DCUM where it seemed like people were shamed for even using a stroller. Ugh.

Jogging strollers are fantastic...for jogging! I shake my head at the parents casually strolling through malls with their giant jogging strollers, especially if it’s a double. They take up so much space.

Almost all strollers and definitely the Uppa Babies. Diaper bags.

The formula mixing machine. Making formula bottles is super easy. It seems like having a machine and parts to clean would be MORE work than just dumping some water and powder into a bottle and shaking it.

Loved our Ergo and our UppaBaby w/ riding board.

Wubbanub pacifiers, or any pacifier for that matter. The baby kept yanking it out of his mouth and took forever to go to sleep. We just abandoned it altogether. Finally learned to go to sleep....with his thumb.

Video baby monitors. I have a small house so never had a monitor for either of my two babies. I get it I guess if you have a huge house and are in a different part for hours? But basically they seem pointless to me. I knew several people who had the video stream on their phones and would constantly watch their baby. To the point of obsession and including while at work. Sorry- it annoys me! Just let your baby rest and trust they will let you know when they are awake.

I did like the diaper cream applicator. My first always had a terrible diaper rash. After applying it, it easily wiped off with a baby wipe. Versus scrubbing that oily cream off my hands and then they still felt oily.

My favorite baby product is our bibs. I still make my 4 and 2 year old wear theirs nightly. I have a fancy one from Nordstrom- make my day.

You don't use hands just use a clean baby wipe to put on cream from tube and apply!

That stupid rock and play. Can’t believe anyone thought that was safe, even before the recall.

- changing table
- jogging stroller
- diaper bags
- teething rings and Sophie
- diaper genie
- toys, toys and more toys
- so.many.bkankets.
- sterilizer

What was underrated:
- investing in a good professional photographer for newborn shoot after baby is born! Not just at hospital either but like 7 days when you have had a little more rest, aren’t fully sleep deprived, and can still look awake with the new mom glow
- oxo feeding bibs and utensils
- hefty thin ice packs and a regular lunch box to hold
- a really good umbrella stroller. I wish I only used this from the beginning!
- stokee trip trapp/similar chairs so easy to clean
- pacifiers/wubbanub!!!!
- formula
- not buying anything until you have the child so you don’t waste money and rime die returns
- taking your child to a toy store and seeing what keeps their attention
-patemn changing pad
- rocking chair
- waiting until baby drank from bottle to find a nipple they liked. All the fancy brands by child hated. I found the one she loved in a dollar store. Yup. The plain old evenflow bottle or Sesame Street dollar store bottle.

We don’t need half of the crap we get for our kids, it just makes us feel amazing to be able to get it. But babies don’t care and we aren’t really getting our moneys worth with most of it.

Those OXO scoop bibs that catch dropped food are a revelation.

PP, you just blew my mind! I’ve never even considered it (and I have three kids) Will now use a baby wipe to apply cream

I feel like I use these for different purposes. For example, walking through the airport: stroller. Actually getting on the plane: carrier. Shopping for myself: stroller. Browsing through the library bookshelves: carrier.
Taking older kids to the pool: stroller. Taking older kids on a hike: carrier.

Britax B-Agile stroller, which is pretty much the same thing as the City Mini. We barely used it for baby 1 and didn't use it at ALL for baby 2. I carried her in my Beco Gemini, and then when she was able to sit up, we put her in our $60 umbrella stroller. What a waste of money.

I also hated the Moby, K'tan, ring sling and all the other wrap-style carriers, but I get that this is very dependent on your body type. I have a short torso and large boobs - that doesn't leave much room for a baby in a wrap. I did much better with my Beco that ergonomically positioned my baby in the right place.

I'm so glad we never bought a changing table, we just set the changing pad on top of the dresser until baby started squirming, then we changed on the floor.
