It’s still in the theatre

Synopsis: rich people are stupid and shallow, poor people are cruel and deceitful, everyone is self-absorbed, yawn

For a movie celebrated over its class issues, it was full of trite stereotypes and not at all provocative

I agree. This is what I took from it. Nothing groundbreaking.

No, we all learned Korean, just so we could watch it.

I found it funny and intriguing - but not “Best Picture” worthy.

You don't have to like it. But this isn't a "Hollywood" film in any way.

It won SIX Oscars, including best Picture, Director, and Original Screenplay. That’s Hollywood celebrating the movie as brilliant, incredible, masterful. It wasn’t made in Hollywood but it was clearly influenced by Tarantino and wildly praised by Hollywood.

i think people who harp on the class issues are missing the point of the movie, imo, which is that class is a difference without a distinction in certain ways. the most sympathetic character is the young boy, and yet he is one of the most reprehensible characters in the film. the film makes the audience wonder why the rich family feel so parasitic when all the imagery and symbolism speaks poor family as the eponymous parasite. the movie imo is brilliant and its cinematography is fabulous.

I really love Korean films ... however this particular one was ok. Although it is true... the class distinctions and class social issues are realistic. I can see this happening in all Asian countries including India and Pakistan as well. The only thing is I’m not sure it’s good enough to win an Oscar. It’s not at the level of Dances with Wolves or English Patient. Besides I would recommend “ A tale of two sisters” it’s a suspense horror film, brilliantly done in every way.

I thought it was a comedy but a very dark comedy. Black humor.

I didn’t feel touched or inspired or anything by this film. I this past year had very fee good movies that’s why it won Oscar.

Jealous
Why shouldn't best picture go to a foreign film

...influenced by Tarantino? Ummm, no. Tarantino was influenced by Bong Joon Ho. People who don't know film or Hollywood should take a seat. This is an outsider film that Hollywood recognized. IT. IS. NOT. A. HOLLYWOOD. FILM.

You can rent it on Amazon ($3.99), just make sure you pick the Parasite 2019 movie. It's very good.

No one said it’s a Hollywood film. It’s Hollywood’s pseudo intellectual gushing over a mediocre film.

Jealous?? I think it’s great when a foreign film wins Best Picture. I loved Roma, Life is Beautiful, Babel... but because I didn’t think this one was quite worthy, I’m “jealous”? Okaaaay! Whatever you say, dude.

You can pay for it on Amazon Prime. It’s not streaming for free anywhere yet.
