Yes I know that but you can’t take them home.

You don't have a computer at home that your child can use?

No. Wow. There sure is some privilege on this board!

If the OP doesn't even have a computer for herself at home, why is she thinking of buying one for a child?? My point was a child doesn't need their own computer at home, they can use the family computer. If the family can't afford a computer, they shouldn't be buying one just for an 11 year old. As other PPs have mentioned, vthry all get Chromebooks to use at school so there is no reason to buy one.

The parents might not need a computer at home, but the child will definitely need one for homework and projects. I assumed public libraries were a solution, but we had horrible luck when our router broke. I ended up spending $40 at FedEx Office so FD could finish her project.

MCPS should give kids chrome books/internet for at home to families who cannot afford it if they are requiring homework be done on them. Not everyone lives near a public library or parents can drive/take them nor do they have a ton of computers.

Yes 100%! Your child will use it almost daily.

DD is our third. No reason for a chrome book at home. They do need to access google docs but can do that from any computer. Including at school.
