Add olive oil. It needs to be slippery so you can slide it off your plate and into the garbage. |
Creamed kale! Cream and Parmesan make kale taste great. Cooked kale shrinks, too, so your big bag will be gone immediately. |
We had a big bag to use up and cooked it with some spicy chicken sausage, a couple diced sweet potatoes, and some harissa and ate it as tacos. I look forward to leftovers with a runny egg on top. |
Pot with water and ham hock. Once it has reduced some strain water off, drizzle with apple cider vinegar. |
My kids love sauteed kale. I start it in a little olive oil with garlic, salt, and pepper. Then, I add some chicken broth and cover it. This steams it a bit. Every so often, I stir it. I cook it until it is very tender. |
De-vein it and make Italian Wedding soup. I did this last night and it was great. Serve with parmesan and crusty bread. |
Definitely soup. Just finished a dinner of ham and bean soup with big handfuls of chopped kale. Even my kids ate it. |
I used to feed it to my guinea pig when I was a kid. RIP Benny. How he loved his kale! |
Do you not eat vegetables regularly? Kale goes into pretty much anything that calls for a leafy green. Wherever you'd normally use spinach or lettuce, use kale. Soup, stew, salad, pasta, etc. Omelettes. Lasagna. |
+1 This thread almost seems like, "What do I do with some potatoes?" I mean, there's literally a thousand things... it's not like eggplant. |
I just made an amazing pizza with kale. I bought a pizza crust, laid down a layer of provolone cheese, really thinly sliced potatoes (I pre-cooked them for a minute in the microwave), some mild Italian sausage, thinly sliced red onion and kale. It was super yummy.
Recipe here (I added the sausage, which wasn't in the original): https://www.womansday.com/food-recipes/food-drinks/recipes/a12199/potato-red-onion-kale-pizza-recipe-wdy1212/ |
NYT kale apple salad recipie.
Tried it last weekend and was a big hit |
Do not put it in a smoothie or juice. I love kale—raw, sautéed, in soups—but the juice tastes awful. I agree that kale is an easy ingredient to use. |
