| Have you tried tracking growth in between appointments? That might give you a more accurate rate of change. |
| He is 20 months old?! |
|
Who on earth did the tracking at adult height for a 20 month old? Is that an actual thing?
Apart from that, this kid might be showing typical regression around 2 years when constitutional growth delay happens, and then he will grow later. Unless his dr is suspecting dwarfism, which you would probably know by now. |
That is interesting. How old is your tiny son and your tall one? I wonder if it is constitutional growth delay. I am thinking my son is going to have this because it was so common on my side of the family and he seems to favor my side. I know people are saying genetics are crazy but if he were short, he would probably be in the 5'8 range, not a lot smaller than that. FWIW, my brothers were in the bottom 5-10% their whole life and are 6'+ now. |
I've heard that for boys you double the height they are at around 2.5. |
| He could have a growth delay, my dd does. We didn’t discover it until she was around 4. Nothing really to do at this point. We see a endocrinologist and monitor. She has her growth plates measured once a year (she has a 2 year delay) meaning at 6 her body is at the size she is supposed to be at 3 not 6. She is very small (.01 percentile but doctors now compare her on charts with her bone age not her actual age and she’s average. Supposedly she’s either going to have a huge growth spurt or she will just continue growing longer meaning if most girls grow until they are 16/17 she may continue growing until she is 19. She has had a lot of bloodwork to rule out any other factors causing her growth to delay. Everything right now is normal as she gets older we may need to consider growth hormones but we aren’t there yet. But it very well could just be a delay easy to find out with a X-ray. |
| DS was supposed to be 5'8" according to the double height theory. Well, he is now 13, 5'8" and still growing. Men on both sides of the family are over 6'. I think that genetics play a huge role in height and are likely more accurate than other measures when the child is a baby or toddler. |
Interesting. When did she start at an endocrinologist? Celiac was ruled out which is the blood test we got! Are you and your DH average height? |
|
DS is 13.5 He is 5’7” and weighs 145 and there are currently no signs of puberty.
He was 7 lb 10 oz at birth and 21 inches. By 2 years old he was 39 inches tall and in the 100th percentile for weight as well. DH is 6’3” and his brother also the same height. They have super tall male relatives on both sides. I’m 5’6” and adopted so we don’t know what’s going on with that side. Ped is predicting taller than 6’2” and shorter than 6’5.” We shall see. |
Did you just come in here to brag about how tall your son is? What a bizarre post. |
+1 Is this for real? |
