Dumbish bottled water question

Wegmans sells 4 gallon jugs of spring water that can be used in a water cooler. I love my water cooler. The jugs are heavy, but better than carrying huge cases of bottled water all the time.

How many of those are insects and other pests?

mammals, birds and reptiles. read the article. this doesn't include the ones who will die later because there's no food/water, or no ground cover for them to hide from predators in.

Just get a Britta. It baffles me that so many people prefer to leave thousands of pounds of waste in their wake, in addition to the gas required to ship the water and half the time, pollution generated at the source of bottling. My water tastes so terrible (it’s “liquid rocks” per my plumber) that a Britta is a necessity, but I don’t get the point of bottled water in people’s homes.

Because Britta doesn't do anything. It claims to get rid of the tastes and smells of chemicals but not the chemicals themselves. They're a scam.

We have a bottom loader as of Sept. Our building has really bad hard water. It stains our teeth and even our vet wanted us to stop using the tap for the cat. Yes they produce "good tasting" water but they do not filter out chemicals. They are a waste of money. We've had all kinds of filters over the years. I'm going to get a counter top distiller when I can afford one. They're slow, too, though.

And the same chemicals are in bottled water. They are in the water supply and it makes no difference whether the water is bottled or from a tap and filtered. Unless your water has known contaminants in it, bottled or tap, it is all the same except for taste and appearance.

What? I don't get your point. Of course it is not all the same. The only reason to use bottled water or filtered water over tap water is to filter out contaminants. Do people really use filters to change the appearance or the taste? I used them to filter out chemicals -- which is what the better filters advertise, not "clean taste." I want no lead, not or "no lead taste."

Your tax dollars already pay for this. Your local government ensures that the lead levels in your drinking water are safe. Why do people insist on throwing money at non problems?
