They don’t do athletic scholarships but they do award merit scholarships which can be for athletics.

No, they don’t offer merit scholarships either.

Dumb comment on many levels. It’s a good thing that many of our government’s lawyers—especially at the most important and prestigious agencies—have Ivy League educations.

Spoken like a true bureaucrat. There are no important or prestigious agencies.

I turned down early action to Harvard. We couldn’t afford it even with the aid and we didn’t know to reclama.

I know someone who was recruited to Harvard for crew. They absolutely give out athletic scholarships. This is a myth.

Dumb and dumber.

Wouldn’t be my move, but maybe scholarships came into play.

Amherst offer automatic admissions to med school without taking MCAT.

I went to two different Ivies for undergrad and grad school. I was friends with many recruited athletes. Ivies do not give athletic or merit scholarships.

It is a myth that they give out athletic scholarships. It’s common for people to pretend they are too rich to receive financial aid.

+1 Being wanted by the crew coach can help you get in so being "recruited" is accurate. But any money you get is need-based, not an "athletic scholarship."

To Amherst medical school?

Not true. This person did not have financial need for a full ride. She received what essentially amounts to an athletic scholarship — she told me.

He cared about his knees and went to MD for engineering and is a patent attorney.

Your assumptions about football players is telling.

Your obsession with Ivies is sad.

Would you be pissed if kid did that?
There are no sport’s scholarships in the Ivy League.

I'm guessing you majored in sports.

They get recruited and each sport has spots to reserve, but no financial aid is tied to sports.

It is up to my kid. The brand name means nothing later in life. That is what data says anyway.

I know a kid turned down partial scholarship at Ivy to attend UMD full ride. Not everyone is rich.

She is lying or ill-informed. A lot of people don’t want to acknowledge that they are receiving financial aid.
