We pick up the dog poop before we have people over and before any child goes out to play. Sometimes we miss some poop. Our Son and his friends know to let us know if they see something. It is not a big deal.

Animals poop in the forest and on peoples lawns. Poop happens. If you are hiking on forest trails, you will have to keep an eye out for poop. Hopefully that does not deter you from going on hikes or camping.

But yes, we pick up our yard and after our dogs if they poop on walks or at a dog park.

I don’t disagree. I think it’s very entertaining that the first poster is up in arms that the dog has to be walked. So that it goes to the bathroom in someone else’s yard and not you’re own? No. If you have a yard, your dog should be doing it’s business in your yard and then walked for exercise.

+2. Yep. We have two dogs and they usually poop on walks (on the public strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street, people!), but also in the yard. In the summer we're diligent with picking it up, but in the winter we do it once a week or so, and if neighbor kids come over to play and it's unseasonably warm, DH or I run out to pick it up before they go outside. It's LESS of a big deal when it's cold and dry in the winter, because the poop is hard and doesn't dirty shoes. But nobody wants to hose dog poop off of shoes or bare feet (though it was par for the course when I was a kid), so we make an effort and keep the hose handy just in case we miss one.

The "public strip" that the homeowner is responsible for weeding and mowing you mean? That their own children play on? Small children sit on while they're getting their bikes set up, having a break, waiting for the parents to come out, etc? The "public strip" that in some cases the homeowner needs to walk across to get from their car into their own house, stepping through the skid remnants of your pet's feces (assuming you "clean it up")? The one they plant annual flowers in? Got it.

At least pretend to be a civilized human being and keep your animals' filth on your own land.

If there’s poop in the yard we pick it up before kids play. Usually we pick it up right after but we definitely check the yard before kids come over to be sure.
Our dog trainer years ago told us dogs should pee and poop in our yard and then go for a walk afterward. He’d pee a few times on walks but rarely poop. I guess if you have an apartment and no yard that wouldn’t be possible though so I see both sides.
