How is it shady and low class? |
He is messing with you bruh. Only the poors finance (or worse, lease) a Bimmer or Mercedes. A simple cash payment is how the real deal roll. |

Bought a VW at Stohlman in cash and a Subaru 2 years later. I put the money in my account a week in advance and have all my research done on option packages and pricing. I request an online quote from a few dealers and make an appointment for my test drive. I bring my checkbook. I don’t say anything about financing until we agree on a price. When they go to take to to the finance guy I just say I will pay in full. I write the check and have no issues at all.
Why do you need a transfer OP. Why don’t you have a checkbook? |
I'd assume anyone with that much cash is either a drug dealer or in some other business where lots of undeclared cash transactions are taking place. either criminal, or shady. |
Go to Kelly Blue Book and Car Fax type sites. They will have the option packages and add ins listed with their code numbers and prices. One of those sites tells you what people near you have paid for the same car and option package. |
We’re not talking about paying with a briefcase of bills, like actual cash. We’re talking about writing a check instead of taking out a loan or using a credit card. |
When people use the term cash they don’t mean you’re rolling in with a Zero Halliburton handcuffed to your wrist with a hundred large inside. They mean you write a check from like Navy Federal from an account with the correct amount in it. Duh. |
+1 Not only I purchased for my new car in cash, I also purchased my SFH in cash. By cash, I mean money transfer from the checking account. |
| I've paid cash for cars on several occasions. Yes, CASH, as in $100 bills. People still do it. Several transactions in the $5,000 to $8,000 range. |
|
I bought an $80k car for "cash" a few years ago. I put $2k on my credit card to seal the deal, then wired the remainder a day later. I didn't pick up the car until they confirmed the money was received. I didn't push to take it the day I put the deposit down.. maybe they would have allowed it, but I'm not sure.
The person who told you they only take personal check was either the salesperson not the finance/back-office person, or that dealership has awful customer service. In my experience (buying two cars with a wire transfer), they are happy to take your money in any form as long as it's good. |
Writing a check or doing a wire transfer isn’t “paying cash”. Duh Writing a check is paying by check. Duh A wire transfer is a wire transfer. Duh Only handing someone a stack of paper currency or coins is paying with cash. Duh |
| I had a great experience buying my Honda for cash - no hassle and just handed them a personal check (but knew the price I was willing to pay before I went to the dealerhsip). Ironically, this North Arlington dealership finance guy indicated that over half their new car sales are cash - which is unheard of nationally. |
People with money call mostly anything that doesn’t involve a loan “cash.” You must come from a different demographic. |
+1. You’re not very worldly, pp. |
I’m not. But I’m educated. Clearly better than that demographic, since I understand what words like “cash” and “wire” and “check” mean. I wouldn’t accept a check for $80,000. I’ll accept your Halliburton filled with 100’s though. |
