I honestly don’t even know when my 6.5yr old goes poop. we stopped checking just before kindergarten. He knows you keep wiping until there’s nothing on the tissue and to use as much tissue as needed. |
PP with a 9 and 12 year old here. My kids don’t poop at school. They go before they leave or when they get home (or later.) Even now that they can wipe fine, they would not poop at school unless they had an upset stomach. |
We stopped at 4.5.
Summer birthday and i wanted her to be able to do it competently before K |
Yep. All these teachers who insist the kids poop at school and smell - what a crock of bs. |
I would like to give credit to this thread. After reading that other 3-year-olds are wiping independently, I had my 3.5 year old wipe on his own, and he did it well enough and didn't need my help. Having my oldest child completely independent in the bathroom feels like a huge milestone. Thank you, DCUM! |
We’ve had UTI’s so I’m very involved with wiping my 4 year old. She starts but I make sure we aren’t likely to have an infection. I don’t care what anyone thinks. |
One of my 7.5. year old kids (they are twins) still asks me to help wipe his poopy butt when he cannot get everything out. It irritates me for sure, but I would rather do it then have him have poop in his butt all day, or to have to wash his poopy underwear. |
My almost 4 year old was potty trained late. Honestly she doesn’t even wipe herself really well from pee. I just don’t trust her to wipe her butt for fear of UTI. I’m not going to worry too much as she’s a home pooper since 2.5. |
OMG no you are incorrect. I am a teacher and when I sit next to some students, they do smell of poop every once in a while. I'm not getting all close and personal. Think about how you can smell if someone has stepped in dog poop. You don't need to sniff their shoe, right? |
No, this is ridiculous. Unless your kid has motor delays (which no one in these posts have mentioned) not knowing how to wipe your butt after a poo in elementary school does not fall into the "every kid is different" category. It is 100% parents not teaching their children basic hygiene. |
