I like Juliette if it’s spelled Juliet.
I actually really think Isla and Esme are adorable names! |
|
What about Bridget?
Cora and Bridget. Darling. |
| Ooof hard pass. Why do people pick such weird names these days? |
| What about Iona? |
|
Since you have a Cora already, I'd skip anything that also ends in "a". Which would eliminate Eliza, but how about Elizabeth?
Cora and Juliette also is nice. Esme is fine but most people probably won't know it's a real name. Ditto Catriona (which will always be mispronounced; if you're going to do it and if you are not actually Irish, like really Irish, you should spell it Katrina - but again, Cora and Katrina is too matchy matchy). As other ideas that might be your style, how about Judith, Vivian, Rosemary or Rosalind, or Margaret? |
| Vivian? |
|
OP here, I actually like a lot of these name suggestions. Especially Stella and Vivian (I've always like Vivian, but my husband does not). For all the people confused about some of my names, my family has a very Scottish heritage, and my husband's is very Irish. Our last name is very Irish.
I think I just really am lost with names this time around because we knew immediately with our first what name we loved and nothing is really speaking to me. |
|
I like your general style. Thoughts:
Yes: Eloise, Eliza Maybe: Juliette, but don't call her Etta; Isla; and is Catriona pronounced Katrina? I do like this name. No: Ailsa (will be butchered in America); Esme |
| Instead of Isla, I've seen the spellings Ila or Ayla. Would you consider either of those? |
|
My first is a Cora too!
I don't want to post what we ended up choosing because it might 'out' me, but I will say that Eliza and Isla were on our short list. In the end I decided that Cora and Isla sounded too theme-y to me (they are both kind of ocean-y), but I still love Cora and Eliza and would have happily gone that route. FWIW, OP, I felt the exact same way - I would never love a name like Cora, etc, and in retrospect (my second is now 5 months) I think I was sort of projecting some of my fear about not loving the second baby as much. I may be WILDLY off base here so feel free to ignore me but I just wanted you to know that 5 months later, I think I love my second baby's name more than the first? I didn't think that was possible. Anyway, good luck! They are all cute names. |
Ila is confusing and Ayla is basically a porno name to anyone born in the 80s who passed around a copy of Clan of the Cavebear. |
OP here - could totally be it! Also, I really want to know what you did name your second, since we appear to have similar taste! |
I've never heard of this movie, but I think Ayla is pronounced with a hard A sound where Isla is an I sound. |
| what about maya? |
I like it but its maybe too similar in sounds to cora? |
