I think that going to practice is much better than any open tryout regardless of the team. It's very easy to get lost in the shuffle during open tryouts while at practice more time can be given to that player trying out. |
Thank you so much. That is great to hear especially the field positioning/roles. Her current coach does not spend time teaching positioning/roles. Do you know which days and where his team holds their practices? Is your DD on his 2008 team too? |
DD is not a 2008 but has played for Jason. |
Would you contact the individual coach to set that up, or go through the main contact info for the club? |
Thank you. I plan on emailing him in March to ask to allow my DD to attend his practices before doing tryouts. |
The coaches’ email addresses are on Potomac’s website. Email the coach directly. |
Coach directly. |
I have to disagree regarding Jesse's coaching. I can't disagree with Jesse building successful teams. But Jesse wasn't really a soccer player himself so teaching technical skills can't be his strong suit. When my DC played with him, he loved the long ball. |
Not sure what area you are looking to be but you might want to consider FCGB as well. They practice at Stone Ridge in Bethesda, Soccerplex, and sometimes Gaithersburg or Germantown. |
I don't want to poohpooh on Potomac but there are better clubs in MoCo. |
Read the thread subject. No one is asking the answer you’re giving. |
I just looked up the EDP website and noticed that Potomac 2008G (U12G) team will be playing in EDP South Atlantic Premier III this Spring.
I’m not familiar with EDP. Hence, does Premier III means Division 3? If it’s indeed Division 3, is it a more competitive league/division compared to NCSL Division 1? Thank you if anyone can shed some light. |
I wish there was a database of team practice locations and general times. Would make team selection so much easier.
We signed up for a club in the Spring that was in our town only to find out in Fall our age group practices several towns over and about a 30 minute drive in rush hour. |
Basically it is Division 3 but EDP has so many different names for leagues it gets confusing. I've seen Divison 3 on the boys' side and EDP3 is probably a bit lower than NCSL Division 1. These are the Girls 2008 Division 1 teams so you can compare some of these names to the NCSL teams you have played to get a better idea http://events.gotsport.com/events/schedule.aspx?EventID=77878&Gender=Girls&Age=12 |
I completely agree. Or even if the various clubs would indicate where/when they hold their practices per age group. |
