Should clubs that don't allow kids to play for their school team be given access to school fields?

The fields don't belong to the school, they belong to the public. It seems like encouraging kids to play on a public field is a good thing. Have we lost so much focus we can't see that encouraging kids to play the beautiful game is a great thing, no matter what team they're on?

You're really wanting to spite kids for not playing on the "right" team, which for you is the high school team?

Must be a private school then. I don't think DA can grant exemptions unless a kid is getting a tuition or admissions break in exchange for playing, and even then they have to sit out that part of the DA season.

Unless they are just flying under the radar.

Most of the DA teams in the north allow their kids to play HS. Not sure how. The Cincinnati teams had mixed teams/lots of playups recently because 70% were playing HS. Per the parents and the coaches.

I heard for girls' DAs, players 2003 and up were allowed to get general high school exemptions. Which I think you are talking about when FCV played Cincinnati. What I heard of why it was done was because many were on clubs that converted to DA clubs so it was allowed as a transitional thing.

That said, and again referencing Cincinnati, the high school season is in the fall and those players aren't even rostered. So in theory, they can just not roster them until pre-season as add on. Could be a way to "game" the system.

Very on point. I agree with everything you said.

If they are ECNL why would the club discourage players to play HS. Isn’t that the point of ECNL?

ECNL only started branding themselves as the pro-HS league when girls' DA came on the scene. Before that, many ECNL coaches were opposed to their players playing HS and the ECNL leadership was fine with that. There's a kind of funny revisionist history about the whole thing.

I thought BRYC went from CCL to ECNL for the purpose of allowing players to play HS.

Pretty sure that had NOTHING to do with it.............

BRYC was the first DA club to be announced in VA. They pulled themselves out to go ECNL. One of the reasons was to allow the players to play HS.

Don't believe for a second that BRYC coaches care if they players CAN play high school...

Stop with the BRYC was a DA club - never were. They make more money in ECNL that is why they are there. Charge the same as DA but provide one less practice during the week and skip a whole lot of practices while kids are playing HS. The league is designed to maximize player cost while mi IMO I g player training.

Or they did it because of the money. They were also incentivized. ECNL courted them because they knew FCV was leaving. I've had several BRYC parents tell me Mikey hates them playing high school and that he discourages it.
