I second not selling your home, even if you can't afford to stay there. A SFH rents for $1600-$1800 in Cheverly which would cover your mortgage. Even if you can't rent out a room to be able to stay there, rent the whole house until either you can afford it or can sell it way down the road for much more. Another thought, someone who has your teaching background could sign up with a top nanny agency and get between $40 and $50K per year. The hours would be longer, but that income would allow you to stay in your home.
