It should be illegal to leave your car parked at the pump

Definitely.

However we're out of luck, OP, because buying overpriced snacks is an important portion of the gas station profits!

Then you come from a privileged lifestyle.

Yes. When Mobile came out with the pay at the pump option in the 1980's, they were the expensive gas. It was at least 5 cents a gallon more there, usually more like 10-12 cents. And the discount gas store was usually a cash only store. And there were no parking spaces by the little building in the middle. So you had to leave your car parked at the pump and walk in.

The same applies for spots with electric vehicle charging stations. Sometimes it's even worse. People will park in those spots for hours and not charge.

It should be illegal for OP to post threads like this

We've been warned to by the police where I live to reconsider walking in to pay for gas.

In my county we've had unending problems with identity theft via gas payments at the pump. I was told some time ago that some of the pumps transmit the data to the building via an unsecured network and people who park nearby can capture the data.

Many of us have noticed our credit cards being used fraudently after using the pumps at specific gas stations.

Other then having to pay inside or get a receipt it’s simply rude to leave the car at the pump at a busy station. People who do this don’t give a damn about their fellow pumpers.

You think it takes 30 seconds for you to go inside, order a coffee, pay for it, get the coffee, put your sugar/cream whatever in it, stir it up, and return to move your car from a place it shouldn't be in the first instance? Hmmm. Starting to sense the issue here.

So we were just coming back from a weekend trip to Pennsylvania when I saw this on the pump. It made me think of this thread.

You're kidding right? There are tons of a-holes who believe that there shouldn't be special electric plugs taking up space and will park their big gas guzzler in the electric outlet spots.

Teslas set off many a-holes.
