So what are white folks here doing to check their privilege? Specific examples, please. TIA. |
“This IS a thoughtful, good, nuanced answer.
And it is why Democrats lose with white voters. Why are we so attached to the term "white privilege" when it is basically scolding the biggest voting demographic and requires 4 paragraphs to explain to people so that they are not offended? Whose idea was that? ” +1 This term is toxic. Acknowledging that POCs face discrimination is not. |
It was a good answer. I suspect Gillibrand gets it a bit more than most because she represented a rural, largely white district before she became a senator. Her evolution to more liberal positions on several issues was always going to be an Achilles heel in this race, and realistically I don’t see her going anywhere. But I hope she stays in the Senate, and the other candidates could learn from her response here. |
Asian here who thinks that terminology is very misleading. Why can't we just call it what it is? It's racism. |
The term is only toxic because Faux told idiots to be mad about it |
Well whatever the reason, it’s still toxic. The Democrats really need to stop using this term if they want to beat Trump, whose entire campaign strategy is targeting aggrieved poor whites. |
The Democrats can’t just target aggrieved poor whites. They are also targeting all of the minority voters who stayed home last time. |
Ugh. Why must we dumb things down for the snowflakes?
If you aren’t willing to listen and learn, then you really aren’t worth my wasted time. Institutional Racism would be just as “toxic” because idiots refuse to admit to being part of ongoing racism in the year 2019. |
She's trying to Kaepernick her way back in.
no thanks |
LOL. Love the way Kaepernick is used as a verb. It actually works. |
Fine, but get ready for 4 more years of Trump. Those snowflakes that don’t matter show up and vote. |
NP. Such a condescending but typical response. Yes, those who disagree with you must be dumb and aren't willing to learn! Good grief people like you are annoying. |
Thanks I think I'll use this new "verb" as a metaphor for opportunistic actions. |
LOL! Agree that it works as a verb. |
It’s not disagreeing. It’s denial of facts. I have no patience for that. Not body should. We shouldn’t have to coddle people who refuse to see reality. |
