I like both. I prefer the Allison spelling because that's what I grew up seeing so Alison always looks wrong to my eye. I think 3 syllables has a better flow with a 1 syllable last name, but if your last name is something semi-interesting then Alice would be good too. I agree with others that Alice is on trend with the granny names, but I kind of like that Allison is more original.

I have an Allison who is 13' I never thought of it as a "dated" name like Jennifer. But she goes by Allie, which does seem to be a rather common nickname now.

I love Alice. And I have a niece named Alison who was named in honor of an Alice...wish they had stuck with the original. I agree Alison is more dated to the 70s/80s.
