| I’m an Allison and I like Alice better. More classic. |
Yes, completely agree with this about Alison feeling very 80s. Alice is a lovely name. |

I know quite a few Alices where I live. 4? It was trending here for about 4 years now. I really want to love it but it’s never rolled off my tongue. It is an extremely weak name. Hard to yell. It still doesn’t really fit on a baby to me.
Alison is 80s but I think that means it’s pretty refreshing. |
| I know it's making a comeback, although I cannot figure out why because Alice is a very ugly name. Alison is so much better. Sorry, I really dislike old lady names. |
| I prefer Alice, and I think it's fine with a one-syllable last name (Alice Brown, Alice Lee) as long as it doesn't start with an S (Alice Smith). You could use a longer middle name to balance it out. |
| I’m an Alison, and definitely am surprised when I meet one who is not a 40-something. About 25% of the time, people hear “Alice” when I say my name. Also, it’s misspelled at least 75% of the time. When I give my name to people who need to spell it, I always say, “Alison, A-L-I...” and it still gets misspelled. Take those tidbits for what they’re worth. |
| I know a lot of Alices under 2. Lots of adult Alisons but no babies. How about Alicia as another option? |
| I'm a late 40's Alison, and there are two little Allisons under age 5 at church, and a 2 yo Alice! So maybe both names are trending again. |
| They both can use the nickname Ali which is super duper cute |
| NP I prefer Alice by far. Feels fresher and less dated. |

Why do people keep saying Alison is an 80s name and then reference 40 year olds? Those people were born in the 70s.
I prefer Alison. I think Alice is very trendy right now. (Alice was ranked 71 in 2018 and has been steadily climbing in popularity since at least 2000. Alison was ranked 400 and is declining.) |
| Definitely prefer Allison, especially with a one syllable last name. |
Good point! My sister is Allison and was born in the mid-70s. My daughter’s best friend is an 11 year old Allison. Alice, to me, is my Polish grandma’s name.

| Never thought about Alice as was not part of my generation but Alison was in the 60’s. I prefer Alice and 1940-1950 names. |
