hell no. the DMV is the department of motor vehicles

and yes, I am born and raised in Silver Spring and Bethesda. Went to HS in DC, and went to UMD College Park. So I'm about as local as they come.

Are you Dave Chappelle? Actually, Dave Chappelle has probably long been familiar with the term.

I am a "come here," not a "born here" and I've lived here about 40 years on and off. I use DMV all the time in writing and speaking. I've used it at least 10 years. When I was a kid we lived in Virginia and we said that we lived in Washington, DC, if we were out of town and people asked where we lived.

This and referring to National Airport as "Reagan."

Yup. I’ve lived here for 35 years and it’s been something said on the news, especially Channel 4, since the 80s.

Yup! It was always National Airport, and will always be National Airport.

But locals and transplants alike must unite against ever calling Pentagon City or Crystal City, "national landing."

Calling it the DMV = saying you are from DC when you live in VA suburbs = please leave the DC area

What is DVM? Never heard of that one.

Here since 2005.

I don't use DMV for the year, only for the agency.

No, I’m from here. I call it DC. My grandmother, who was also born here, called it the District. My dad called it warshington.

No, it seems like a recent thing. I've lived in this area all my life (36 years old).

That practice is, was, and forever will remain annoying.

The DMV = the department of motor vehicles. DC, Maryland, Virginia are summed up as "the DC area."

This. Born here and I’m 46.

Same. Have lived here all of my 44 years except for the 4 in undergrad.

But that’s D.C. proper. The city and surroundings area in MD and VA is more than just the city.
