I am from DC proper and I use it sometimes. |
its a black white thing
black people have been using it for years another DCUM bubble issue |
Are you Dave Chappelle? Actually, Dave Chappelle has probably long been familiar with the term. |
I am a "come here," not a "born here" and I've lived here about 40 years on and off. I use DMV all the time in writing and speaking. I've used it at least 10 years. When I was a kid we lived in Virginia and we said that we lived in Washington, DC, if we were out of town and people asked where we lived. |
This and referring to National Airport as "Reagan." |
Yup. I’ve lived here for 35 years and it’s been something said on the news, especially Channel 4, since the 80s. |
Yup! It was always National Airport, and will always be National Airport. But locals and transplants alike must unite against ever calling Pentagon City or Crystal City, "national landing." |
Calling it the DMV = saying you are from DC when you live in VA suburbs = please leave the DC area |
What is DVM? Never heard of that one. Here since 2005. I don't use DMV for the year, only for the agency. |
No, I’m from here. I call it DC. My grandmother, who was also born here, called it the District. My dad called it warshington. |
No, it seems like a recent thing. I've lived in this area all my life (36 years old). |
That practice is, was, and forever will remain annoying. |
Same. Have lived here all of my 44 years except for the 4 in undergrad. |
Yep. |
But that’s D.C. proper. The city and surroundings area in MD and VA is more than just the city. |
