Thoughts on LMVSC?

people still care about this LMV and SYC war? 2 low level clubs that can’t compete at a high competition.

keep thinking one club is better than the other when you parents are ready come to Alexandria if your north for REAL coaches or Mclean is you’re a little west

Alexandria? Good one. Pass the ball around your own half til you lose possession without ever getting any penetration, the true recipe for success.

Yeah, why on earth do those lame clubs Barca and Man City play possession soccer? What could they be thinking? Kick and run is for cowards: packing it in is for the meek. If you want to teach your kids to take risks, play together within a system, have confidence and be brave, this is the way to do it. You just need to zone out the parents who are screaming “boot it” and “forward.” It is a lot easier to learn to play directly after you have learned this than learning possession after playing kickball until puberty. And by the way, they win quite a bit at these clubs as well.

Big difference is Barcelona and Man City take risks by trying to play forward passes and penetrate. Alexandria play a possession style like LVG’s Man United played a possession style... big difference.

You have not watched the right Alexandria teams if that was your impression.

I guess not, which age groups would you say? I’d love to be proven wrong. I like the intentions, but from a lot that I’ve seen (mostly Red teams in older age groups; the 02s are futsal monsters) their possession style becomes very stale. Still better than most because of the desire to build out of the back which is the best way to develop defenders.

I have not seen the older groups, just the younger boys teams. The 06 Reds won State Cup, the 07 Reds just won the East Region in nationals, and 08 Reds appear to be by far the best boys team in the DMV area in their age group, all playing a pretty dominant form of possession soccer and scoring plenty of goals with combination play.

08 Alexandria by far the best boys team in the DMV? Better than Arlington, VDA, Bethesda?

Not an Alexandria parent. But I have an 08 boy player and, yes. Fwiw, they are ranked #1 in the state. Arlington is ranked #6. Loudoun is ranked #3. They are a very strong team and previously were playing and winning in older age groups. They have had a constant roster for a long time.

It’s not uncommon. BRYC was always known for a strong girls program, boys not so much.

Arlington was previously not known to have a strong girls program. Getting da has helped with recruitment and its changing. But, they were never a girl destination.

Here is the thing: Best is totally dependent on gender and age group. The reason my 3 siblings and I all played for different Clubs. God bless my parents.

Same we have an 08 player and Alexandria is always the team we dread playing. They dont even need to look up to pass. 1-2 touches and they pass the balls off. Nice style of play.
