Would you let your 10 yr old go to an amusement park with a friend?

I just chaperoned a 6th grade school trip to Six Flags. One chaperone, 9 kids. We'd separate occasionally so that half could go on one ride and the rest could go on something else. I would be totally fine with four 10-year olds going with one adult. The only thing that would give me hesitation is if your kid is not a strong swimmer and they go to the water park side of things. If that's the case, tell him to stay out of the wave pool. Otherwise, YES, I would be ok with this.

I actually think amusement parks are a great place to have some early independence — plenty to do, self-contained, exciting enough that getting bored and doing something stupid is unlikely to be a concern.

At 10, the supervision is not a big thing. At all. The 10 year old can go on the ride if s/he wants to or can wait for the others if s/he doesn't want to. Unless the 10 year old has a particular issue, they don't need another parent in sight at all moments. They are not babies.

I wouldn't want my 10 year old standing by herself at an amusement park waiting for the others to get off the ride.
