How long do you plan on working?

Money is so good, but trying to get out now. I'm nearly 70.

Curious how you’re getting out. I’m the owner of a small firm, sometimes think of acquiring a small firm.

Found someone I liked in the office to take over my clients. My partner is 15 years younger than me.

OP here. I normally work regular 40 hours during non-busy times.

Thank you all for the feedbacks & comments. These are all very informative. I was blown away by the high salaries that some of you are making! Congrats on your success! (although I have to admit that I'm jealous :lol

Big 4, in Federal consulting. Same years of experience as you. Some weeks it's 45 hours, some weeks it's 60. With my bonus I make about 150K.

I'm trying to do some comparison so that I can figure out if I'm making the "right" amount for my position.
Let me go first: I'm manager in a small tax firm and making 100k plus bonus about 10-15%. I work around 50 hours during busy seasons. I have about 15 yrs of experience. I feel like I'm being under-paid.

Big 4 federal consultant, only 6 years experience making $105k + 3% bonus. Typical work week is 40 billable hours, but during quarters it can be 50.

I had a friend start working at Deloitte about 10 years ago and they started her at $60K. One of my buddies here at the worked at KPMG a long time ago thinks he was paid close to $60K when he started there too. Funny how the large firms don't seem to be increasing their starting pay.

You all are making good money, but that is not always the norm. There are bunch of accounting people who make much much less than what you could imagine. Enjoy being privileged!

I started at a different big 4 firm in 2008, and the starting salary for all staff 1 was $52k.

Good CPAs in the DC area do not make a lot less than this. Accounting people without CPAs and some who are more bookkeepers - sure. But if you have actual talent and understanding how a business works - you should be able to make 130-150k and have a good life balance.

I do accounting without a CPA and have been making in the 300k range last 12 years. If I had CPA be around 500k
