| I definitely want to try some commie bagels! |
You have a bizarre obsession with this. You need to move on and find a more useful way to occupy your mind. |
Perhaps you’ve never lived in a Communist country. Most Americans have no clue, so you think it’s hip. It just isn’t. It’s hateful. |
Funny you should say that. I grew up in the Soviet Union and came here when I was young. Your obsession continues. Move along, Mr. McCarthy. The commies are hiding in every corner. |
So how does that angry logo make you feel? Warm and fuzzy, like you’d rather be back in the Soviet Union? |
No, not really. I think you are way way way overthinking this. |
Actually, no thinking required on this one. A big fat Communist red fist in your face every time you walk (or drive) down Mount Vernon Ave just isn’t a welcome sight. In case anyone hasn’t been there to see it, it’s painted on the large brick wall right in the center of Del Ray, where Happy Tart used to be. What a contrast, from Happy Tart to Commie Bagels! Yuck. This is Del Ray - where people don’t want to be fighting. A giant wall mural with a clenched fist in your face is the wrong image for Del Ray. |
| Del Ray is on the cusp of becoming a bland, chain restaurant mecca, just like the rest of Arlington. A grade A shame. |
| Our favorite place for burgers there is Holy Cow. And they’re reasonably priced. But after school on weekdays, it can get overrun by screaming middle school kids. |
Omg I thought the first commie bagels thing here was a funny joke. It’s bagel uprising, going into the old happy tart location. You might remember them from stints in Dairy godmother and the place on the corner next to cheesetique (now that’s the fish place). |
Please get your artist to paint something friendly and inviting. Right now that wall sticks out like a sore thumb. No one walking along Mount Vernon Avenue wants to see that. No one puts up a fist to welcome people. It’s just too angry. That’s not Del Ray at all. |
I agree, it would make more sense for some of the more strongly NIMBY neighborhoods. |
|
Y'all, this thread is wild. The person who is BIG MAD about the logo for the bagel shop is making me giggle at my desk.
Back to the topic though.....inventory in Del Rey? |
Commies unite... in Del Ray? |
Wait, WHAT?!? Please name one national chain restaurant in Del Ray. The chain shops and restaurants are in Old Town, not Del Ray. Bagel Uprising (the 'Commie Bagels') was a farmers market stand, and then a pop-up shop while Dairy Godmother was closed for the winter. The guy who owns it started out by making bagels in his kitchen, and it expanded from there. About as far from a 'chain' as you can get. |
