Will we regret doing Disney World in July?

By the way if you go to the "touring plans" website they have a room finder where they show photos of what the view from each room looks like. I think the standard view room we had was 3378, or something very close to that.

Sure, maybe DC is hot but Fl is generally more humid and has been hotter for longer, so pools, concrete, etc are even hotter.

And daily thunderstorms are a PITA.

WHY WHY WHY?

+1. Also, in DC it's hot and sticky, but I'm not spending tons of time outside in the summer, by choice (unless I'm adjacent to a beach or pool). If I'm hoping to have a pleasant vacation, I wouldn't sign up for hours in the sun and humidity at Disney World. YMMV.

I would not do Disney land this summer. Star Wars is open in May 2019 and the parks will be crazy. It doesn’t open until end of August in FL.

Crowds are less in the summer than fall and spring. Take frequent breaks, get fast passes, do a mid day break. I go in August with my kids 3&6 and it’s been fine. We had fun.

Anonymous wrote:People may disagree, but I've spent A LOT of time in Florida in the summer and it's basically the same as DC. Yes it is hot. And humid. There are lots of places to take AC breaks at Disney, there is plenty of water to be had, and it does rain often in the mid afternoon. All the hotels have pools. It's not the most pleasant time of year to be in Florida, but if you can deal with a DC summer you can deal with a Florida summer.

Completely different. You aren't generally spending day after day in the outdoors and sun waiting in long lines here. Even if you hit Six Flags or Kings Dominion or Busch Gardens, you aren't going for many days in a row. It's oppressive and will wear you out. You'll feel gross, filthy, and exhausted.

AKL PP here. Thanks! I do subscribe to touring plans and was wondering if I wanted to make any kind of room request. Do you recommend asking for a room near Kudu Trail? Except that I want adjoining rooms which is not guaranteed and I wondered if I should make that my priority as opposed to view.

Yeah, during DC summers I stay indoors as much as possible. You have no choice to be outdoors if you're doing Disney. No comparison.

We did Disney this past July. Never again.

16:30 again. My feet swelled up so badly from the heat that I had to buy new sandals in the park. The heat index was over 100 that day, and close to 100 every other day we were there. We also didn't take enough breaks, because we are amusement park people at heart, but in retrospect, that's the only way to make it bearable at all. We brought cooling towels, water bottles, and packets of propel to add to the water to keep our electrolytes up in the heat.

We did akl in February and felt that the money was wasted on savanna view as kids really didn’t care and the animals weren’t out too much! Kids ages 6, 3, 2.

Having lived in both DC and Florida, the latter is much worse in the summer. Sure, maybe they’ll seem comparable for a day, but spending multiple days outside in the Florida heat is just miserable. So no, it won’t feel the same as DC.

Florida residents view July and August as their “winter,” a time for staying indoors and waiting for the brutal weather to pass before going outside again.

2 suggestions if you do it:
1) Get a refillable water bottle with a filter for each member of hte family so you can refill regularly with the bathroom water and stay cool.
2) You can order Dole Whip from the app and not have to stand in line to order/pickup. Dole Whip helps a lot.

We've been a few times in July and it is really hot and humid - and crowded. Sooo many people. Personally I could only take a day or 2 max. But if you have 5 days you can do what you want to see in the parks for the first part of the day and then go back and relax at the hotel pool for the rest of the day.

I thought the kids and I would die of heat and humidity when I went to Kings Dominion in August. Cant imagine DW in their long lines (even with FP) and hordes of people.
