LOL... WTH is a research trip?

It's an expensive parent funded trip for the "rich and helicopter parented"

Home and then she wanted to go to Boston for a day to see her grandparents who just moved to assisted living. Couldn't say no to that.

Naples, FL with boyfriend. They’re staying at my parents’ condo with them.

Staying at school with friends. Working and enjoying the city without homework and classes. Might take a few short trips to nearby cities to explore.

Parent paid trip to pretend its not a spring break trip when it is. Spring break is short.. no one is getting a job in less they have one they can return to.

Not the PP being quoted, but DC’s school has a couple of kinds of programs that might be called research trips. One type involves an industry-city/regional pairing in which a group of undergrads make the rounds of a series of potential employers. Another type involves off-campus research that functions as a prequel or sequel to a course.

Not the PP, but most colleges with research positions take trips with those professors on breaks. My son did multiple ones, even as an undergrad. You usually pay for the airfare, but everything else is paid for by the school. New Mexico was his favorite.

We travel as a family. Only.

Yeah right, sun and sand, that is what my parents thought as well.

Anonymous wrote:She wasn’t going to go anywhere, just come home, but a friend found $100 RT flights to Tampa from their college town and a $120 night AirBnb in St Pete Beach (so only $40 per night for the three of them going) so she’ll be going there for five nights. Whole thing is only costing $300, which is not that much more than about wwe’d have spent to fly her home, so I was happy to chip in.

They’re not huge partiers, anyway. Just want sun and sand after a long Chicago winter, lol.

My son had a spring break trip each of his four years. New Orleans, Panama Beach, Bahamas and Belize. He was on full academic scholarship so I thought he earned it.

What? LOL

You must not have a child working on research in college.

The undergrad - home because he doesn’t have a job and seems to be unable to find one (due to lack of looking)

The grad student - Caribbean. She works her ass off at school and at work. Well give her some spending money.

Are students allowed to stay on campus over Christmas and spring break? Are dining halls open?
