Sure, let's put him on the Supreme Court.

?

Kavanaugh had a credible woman PhD accusing him of trying to rape her. Far worse than having a blackface picture on your yearbook page in my book.

Nice whataboutism.

Would have loved to have this out BEFORE the election, just like I would have loved to have had the Obama/Farrakhan photo out too.

If Northam has no excuse for that pic and resigns, I am fine with Lt Gov Justin Fairfax taking over. He is a great option for Virginia.

What would be an acceptable excuse? His family held at gunpoint off camera, and their lives dependent on him wearing blackface and posing with a klan member?

That he did something stupid when he was young and he was sorry. Similar to GW Bush driving drunk and Jeff Sessions on the record saying all sorts of racist stuff and still getting confirmed as Attorney General.

Sorry, no. If this is real, it’s one of the most repulsive and shameful images imaginable.

It is repulsive. So is driving drunk and saying racist stuff.

We’re talking about the governor here. Keep up. Should he resign?

Did GW Bush witdraw when the stuff about his DWI came out? Did Trump withdraw when the pussy grabbing recording came out? They were candidates and they continued and won.

Now that you have gotten the whataboutism off your chest, what do you think of the photo?
(reminder - every one of her witnesses could not vouch for her - even her best friend at the time)

So another lib who is fine with this. Hypocrite.

What you mean like Al Franken resigning because of a dopey picture while our GOP POTUS is on video bragging about grabbing women's pussies and has been accused by 16 women of sexual assault was elected President?

+1. I’m a Democrat but this is the problem with the far left. They think they’re doing a good thing by pointing out all the dumb stuff people on our side have done in the past and calling for their resignation/removal. Then the right-wingers take advantage of it and we lose otherwise good people like Franken, who made a bad decision in the past before they were even involved in politics. We insist on trying to be the adults in the room while Republicans get away with so much because their voters/supporters just don’t care.

As a staunch conservative and Trump supporter, I thought Franken should have NOT resigned. Frankly, she had years to speak up and didn't. And while this photo of Northam is ugly, it was a long long time ago. More concerned about how the photo of Farrakhan and Obama was hidden before the election as that was NOT a long long time ago.

A photo from Gov. Ralph Northam’s medical school yearbook shows two men, one in blackface and one in a Ku Klux Klan robe and hood, on the same page as the governor.

The photo, which The Virginian-Pilot obtained a copy of Friday from the Eastern Virginia Medical School library, comes from the 1984 yearbook, the year Northam graduated.

On the half-page set aside for Northam, there is a headshot of him in a jacket and tie, a photo of him in a cowboy hat and boots and a third of him sitting casually on the ground, leaning against a convertible.

The fourth photo on the half-page has two people, one wearing white Ku Klux Klan robes and a hood, the other with his face painted black. The person with the black face is also wearing a white hat, black jacket, white shirt with a bow tie and plaid pants. Both are holding canned drinks.

It’s unclear who the people in costume are.

The governor’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday afternoon.

Yikes, another racist Southern Democrat! Didn't they head-up the KKK? Yes, they did.

I'm not a hypocrite. I don't think Franken should have resigned either. I just judge people on who they are today, recognizing that we've all made mistakes in our past. This is a mistake I can live with as Northam seems like a good person who advocates policies consistent with my values.

Doubtful. Big League Politics was the first to break this story.
But - Gillespie's team could have done a better job in their research.

Having said that - where in the hell are investigative journalists these days? This was sitting on the shelf at the school he attended.
Oh, that's right.... he's a Democrat.

You think the Republicans working oppo research for Gillespie ignored this because Northam is a Democrat? That doesn’t make much sense.

Why do you think Gillespie did not raise this?

They were afraid that if they did, all the Republicans would vote for Northam.

I agree with you.
This photo brings a real dilemma for those on the left who apply today's standards to events that happened decades ago.
We take down statues, rename streets, rename buildings, and go to great lengths because we hold people from the past to the standards set today.
So, uncovering this photo, which was taken in the recent past (as opposed to long long ago) is causing the left to face this harsh reality they have set. Let's see how they deal with it.

Conservative here again. So Northam's crime was simply a matter of yearbook layout? I doesn't sound like he was in the KKK photo. Unless you can prove to me that one of those individuals in costume or blackface was Northam, how can you possibly incriminate the man?

Gillespie's team did not ignore it. They never found it. They would not have kept this under wraps.
But, neither did so-called investigative journalists whose job it is to find stuff.
