| I like Margie as a nickname for Margaret. Easy to pronounce and spell, cute, and uncommon. |
|
OP - we had the same issue - we wanted the middle name for my dad (A) and our last name starts with (D) so 3/4 of the alphabet spell a word for the monogram (BAD,CAD,DAD,FAD,MAD,PAD,SAD,...........) we had to stick with 3 or 4 letters for start of first name.
I am hoping for another girl (Margaret) b/c I love the nickname Meg! |
| Go with whatever you like that forms a good monogram. Throughout life she will want to put her monogram on things (it is perfect for backpacks/luggage when you don't want strangers to know your name). My monogram was EEW, few people would have thought that was a problem but my entire 3rd grade year one of my teachers called me ewww... it caught on with other kids, it was terrible!!! I will never forget it. |
| I'm actually the mother of an Eloise. Also a family name for us and we love it. But our 18 month old DOES get called Ellie a lot and it isn't our nature to militantly correct people. I've also given in to the fact that her friends will soon determine what she's called. Or she herself may prefer Ellie once she's in school. So Iwouldn't recommend the name if you really don't like Ellie. We're okay with it, although we're bummed that its fairly common since it applies to Ellas, Eleanors, etc. I'm just happy nobody calls her Weezy, like in the old Jeffersons sitcom! |
