All adult daughters should read this NYT column

Whoa, not my experience at all. My mom is supportive of me and always has been - she would never undercut me emotionally this way. This is a messed up dynamic.

I would think you have an unusual relationship with your mother. Most mothers and daughters have some type of verbal relationship.


NO, true, but count me as someone who keeps it to a very bare minimum. My mom has boundary issues. He values Al's also shallow (such as being fat is a moral failing). Despite living 30min apart, I try to keep the interaction to a quarterly basis.
