How much do you spend on each of your kids for Christmas

3 year old dd. Probably 200 altogether. A used dollhouse I resanded and upgraded with new furniture for it, socks, pjs and smaller toys.

I posted it and am not that person. I work full-time, as does my husband. The only sport my child plays is golf and he’s average at it. The biggest ticket item this year was a gaming chair (~$300), followed by some video games and then a bunch of smaller items. He receives a gift card from each set of grandparents and that’s it - no gifts under the tree from others.

I don’t see how it’s much different from those who receive some from parents and a bunch from grandparents/aunts/uncles/cousins - the fact that my husband and I are buying all the gifts is what has you riled up?

My child is spoiled, but not entitled - so many people use those words interchangeably and they are not the same.

I don’t see where in his or her post the PP you are responding to is “riled up”, just shocked on how much you are spending on one chilld — even i$1000 split between parents on other relatives would be going overboard! Do you think really most kids with gift giving extended family receive that much in gifts on a single Christmas???

Not “outraged”, just surprised. Is you imagination so poor & your life experiences & social circle so limited that you can’t imagine why someone would find it surprising (& excessive) to spend that much money on a single child for a single holiday?

I took the multiple question and exclamation marks to reflect someone who is a bit riled up (bothered) by it - why else respond if he/she thought nothing of it? I have no idea what others spend/receive and don’t have an opinion one way or another. We spend our money as we choose and it affects no one else - I spend very little on hair/make-up/mani-pedis, some woman spend thousands, I can’t imagine criticizing them for that. We all make our own choices based on what’s important to us.

Obviously the people saying $100 or whatever don’t buy electronics. Their kids are probably the only ones in school without an iPad, Nintendo, or Xbox. Or they have no iPhone and they are in high school. They probably buy soap and deodorant for their kids for Christmas to be frugal.

I spent about $400-$500 and my kids don’t have those electronics. It’s funny - you are judging those who spend less for not buying electronics and others are judging you for buying electronics.
