Probably around $1000 for a 12yo, but I don’t keep close track.
$1000 on one kid???!!! What on earth did you get him or her?
I’m guessing this is the poster who SAH & has a retired husband. She is probably also be the poster who buys her kid a “treat of his choice” to make him feel better about his team (on which he is a star) losing a game.
I posted it and am not that person. I work full-time, as does my husband. The only sport my child plays is golf and he’s average at it. The biggest ticket item this year was a gaming chair (~$300), followed by some video games and then a bunch of smaller items. He receives a gift card from each set of grandparents and that’s it - no gifts under the tree from others. I don’t see how it’s much different from those who receive some from parents and a bunch from grandparents/aunts/uncles/cousins - the fact that my husband and I are buying all the gifts is what has you riled up? My child is spoiled, but not entitled - so many people use those words interchangeably and they are not the same.
I don’t see where in his or her post the PP you are responding to is “riled up”, just shocked on how much you are spending on one chilld — even i$1000 split between parents on other relatives would be going overboard! Do you think really most kids with gift giving extended family receive that much in gifts on a single Christmas???
