Would you buy a Tesla? Or any $40k car?

Anonymous
I really want a Tesla 3 but concerned about service and problems. We Toyota and Lexus drivers are spoiled. Maybe consider sporty Lexus IS250.

$40k? Ok.

Tesla? Never at this point, Elon Musk is IMO an arrogant, unprincipled grifter.

Someone describing a truck as "fun"? Now I see everything. F-150 might look "cool" and all but they're definitely not fun.

Funny I didn’t get the poster meant to say a truck was “fun”. My mind glossed over it.

Ridiculous. If I wanted to have my friends and relatives call me to move furniture all the time maybe.

A lot of people are buying Tesla's. Last month, Tesla was #1 in luxury car sales. It sold enough that it was #6 out of all cars for last month.

I have a feeling electric car prices are going down soon so I'd say either save the money for later or get a hybrid.

elon musk is a lunatic and I don't want a car made by un-unionized and sleep deprived workers in a tent. But I would pay 40k for a good car, preferably plug in hybrid.

Go talk to some Tesla workers. They all adore Elon and consider him a visionary.

Teslas are amazing. Great cars. Tesla is a young company and you will certainly not find the level of service of say a Mercedes... but if you talk to Tesla owners, they are willing to put up with all the crap because they love their Tesla cars. Tesla has the highest level of owner loyalty than any other car brand, higher than Mercedes, BMW, Lexus etc.

The top of the line model 3, the performance model, around 54k, has a range of 310 miles on one charge. The current entry level model 3, ~46k, has a range of 260 miles on one charge.

Fyi, a fully loaded model 3 costs $79,500.

I drive a 60k car, so yes

FYI, the fully loaded Model X and S P100D are 150k+ cars.

Tesla is coming out with a new roadster in 2020. Starting price is 250k, range of over 600 miles on one charge and the first car to go 0 to 60 in under two seconds.

Elon lies all the time. That’s a given. His timeline isn’t based on reality.

Tesla gives out factory tours to Tesla owners as an incentive for referrals. You can talk to the workers yourself.

Yes I am sure that corporate stage-managed factory visits are the best way to get a balanced view of working conditions.
