Personal sick guidelines for daycare/school?

Obviously this is only on mostly ok but not feeling 100% days.

That is the shittiest thing to do. Expose everyone because you can't POSSIBLY find backup care or stay home and take care of your obviously ill child. Who cares if they infect everyone else? Mommy and Daddy are OH SO IMPORTANT.

Well, it’s probably how she got sick as well.

We have back up care, ALLCAPS. We are not doing anything differently than the other parents in class btw. We wouldn’t send her if she was clearly ill. We would probably not use our backup, we’d care for her personally. Additionally I cancel clients appointments if she has any stomach issues in case I’m contagious.

DD has a cough and runny nose. I kept her home today because the cough kept her up all night, it was better today but turned into a runny nose. Take another day off or send her?

What was her energy level like today? For me, a runny nose is not enough reason to stay home.

100% full of joy. She met Santa and had so much fun running around the mall. Last night she barely slept but was able to sleep in until 9.

What I don't get is, if you think your kid is too sick to safely send to daycare due to infecting others, why are you taking her to see Santa at the mall? She'll still be infecting others!

B/c she's still putting everything in her mouth at her age. At the mall on a weekday, it was quiet and she's not sneezing all over anything that would infect her. I kept her a few feet away from him and we were there for 3 minutes with him.

It's not your already sick DD who we're concerned about getting infected. It's the other people at the mall who SHE most likely infected. Because you had to take her to the mall to meet Santa during the holiday season. Keeping a sick toddler/preschooler a *few* feet away won't stop her from infecting people. Viruses are airborne and no chance she fully kept her germs to herself. Good job being selfish, Mom.

What? You said in your first post that you send them to school, knowing they’re sick, knowing you’ll get a call to come get them. ie too sick for school. Yes, all parents who do this are complete assholes.

My kid just caught another cold from daycare. Still not blaming the parents. Most are contagious before symptoms appear. . Keeping them home till they feel well enough to go in, and fever/snot/cough mellow.

There are a few really awful chest colds going around. I don’t think anyone child or adult is going unexposed. Definitely push immune boosters, vitamins, hand washing, hydration, and good sleep practices.

I realize this isn’t 100% on topic - but wanted to add a bit of solidarity to anyone struggling with illness themselves or with child. This junk is prolific right now

Every kid in every preschool class I have been in is usually coughing or has a runny nose this time of year. I keep my kid home for fever, vomit, diarrhea, or if they are acting unusually tired or grumpy. If my kid is bouncing off the walls and behaving normally but has some snot coming out, I am not keeping her home.
