Street tacos

Way over seasoned, and not in a good way.

Plus their music is deafeningly loud.

Their classic tacos are great. I always get the tongue and tripa and add salsa to taste.
The "fancy" ones are somewhat heavy on the seasoning, but personally I like the invention that went into the recipes. And compared to BarTaco Bamba is a lot better value.

How is Taco bamba a better deal? Their tacos are more expensive than Bartaco

Clearly no one noticed where you live. I’m in silver spring and like tacos, tortas & tequila in dtss. It’s right by the metro garage.

We noticed, it's just that street taco options are slim throughout the entire region

I cannot find good Mexican food anywhere in MoCo. It is all Central American which is way too greasy and bland for me.

Taqueria la Placita always is on the Washingtonian’s cheap eats list. I’ve never been.

I hated this place. The meat was dry.

I need to move back to San Diego.

Except the best tacos in the region are right next door to OP, yet people are recommending mediocre options way the hell out in Virginia.

OP, this is the only list you need:

El Tapatio
La Placita
Taqueria y Rosteria El Rey
La Fondita

All of these are in Riverdale.

Anonymous wrote:My understanding is the US health and safety rules mean that proper 'al pastor' tacos can't be sold here. District Taco does the closest imitation that I've found, but I've never been able to find street tacos as good as the ones in Mexico here.

What part is prohibited?

Health dept rules specify that spit-roasted meat has to be finished on a griddle or hot plate after it is sliced off the spit - this dries out the meat and messes with the flavors.

+1 Also fantastic customer service.

Two great taco places in Hyattsville - Mexican colleague recommended.

Tacos 5 de Mayo Restaurant
Taqueria La Placita

Also, a food truck by the thrift store at Randolph and University Blvd.

+1 this and the Tortas Y Tacos mentioned above on Columbia Pike in Arlington are the two best I have found.

Never tried Tortas y tacos, but Tacos el Chilango are the only tacos I've tried in the DMV that don't make me shake my head in disappointment.

Where are your favorite tacos in San Diego? We usually stay at a family house in Old Town and the mexican food there is pretty bad.
