Aren't they too old for PJ day at school??

Yes, my son wouldn't even do it in first grade. I think it's absolutely ridiculous to see kids walking around in PJs.

My son is in 7th and never once wore pajamas to school. He said it’s embarrassing. He wears a t-shirt and flannel pants or just boxers to bed.

Everything is embarrassing in middle school. Wait until high school.

So you are raising your son to be an uptight prick like yourself?

I am an elementary teacher and I wear pjs on pj day. It's great!

However, I worry if it's very cold outside that some of the kids in their little, thin, often too small pjs should be outside.

We had PJ day as part of spirit week in high school

No, starting in kindergarten he wouldn’t. Still won’t in 7th.

My first-grader LOVES the days she gets to wear pajamas to school.

Our HS does it but my kids were never into wearing pjs to school so they just dress normally anyway.

Yes.

They are in their last year at elementary....I realize they are still kids but shouldn't it be time to start making the transition to middle school and get dressed like big kids for school?

What do the kids in your 6th grader's class wear on the other 179+ days of school?

11 yr old wears undies. That's it.

My only issue is that in our house, PJs tend to be the last thing replaced when a growth spurt hits. They can wear the pilled, too-tight, too-short, belly-revealing PJs a bit longer while I focus on making sure their school clothes are clean, in good repair, and properly sized. If they don't complain, I don't fuss too much until it gets really bad.

So the night before pajama day is inevitably when I realize they don't have a single pair of PJs that could decently be worn out of the house without someone contacting CPS.
