No he's not. The only problem here is you and your fabrications. Your candidate of choice is a horrible political candidate. He has such a socialist agenda, but has shown absolutely no financial responsibility in discussing how to pay for his very expensive ideas. He would return us to the extremely expensive O'Malley days where we had 40 tax hikes over 8 years plus an increase in the state debt limit and a decrease in the state's credit rating. Jealous has even less financial acumen that O'Malley and could severely jeopardize the state's finances for decades to come. Under Jealous, the state is likely to see even more tax increases, even more wanton overspending, borrowing beyond our means and a further deterioration of the state's credit rating that could force us to pay a substantially higher amount in interest rates for decades. You could see an increase in taxes but a decrease in services because we're spending so much on paying down the deficit at a higher rating due to the dropping credit rating. Voting for Jealous is voting for a financial disaster. |
It's sad to see someone so consumed by bitterness that they have to resort to unfounded allegations. |
Congratulations. You exposed yourself as a Trumper and have lost all credibility. |
Great. So I hope you’re voting for Tony Campbell! If not, you must be a racist. |

If I were a liberal newspaper, I would endorse moderate Republicans when they are a shoe in to win
Then when it's a close race, my endorsement is taken more seriously since I have a bipartisan record I'm not sure if I'll vote for hogan or not. Can't really stomach voting for a republican. Will not vote for jealous either |
| Just read the endorsement. Pretty amazing that they endorsed him after he cancelled the red line |
1) there is nothing WRONG with a socialist democracy. It works just fine in every country in Europe. It will work equally fine here, too. Jealous is ahead of the curve, that's all. Personally, as someone who's been ahead of the curve myself, in terms of intelligence, in academia, in social trends, and in politics, I tend to support outliers, because we probably agree on many things. 2) Maryland taxes are laughably low. Artificially so. And we as a state can't progress if the means to fund the kind of programs we should be funding is kept artificially restricted. Our state and county tax rates should be at least double, at a minimum, to begin to approach a level where we could adequately fund some of the programs we should have in place. 3) there are lots of people who agree with Point #2, and for every racist who moves out of the state because a strong Black man was elected governor, a true progressive will move in to take their place. I applaud this. The fact is, there are plenty of people who will not balk at paying much more in taxes, because they know that that's how you build a successful socialist system. I would happily pay a twenty percent state and county rate, in addition to my 25 percent federal rate, because I know what that would mean to our state, and what it could offer us (in short, everything). That's a bargain to me. |
This is one of the most amazing posts I’ve ever seen on DCUM. Congratulations in being so far ahead of the curve intelligence-wise! |
|
Amazing
Yes let's see how it works to have one state taxing twice as much as the ones that neighbor ir People that pay lots of taxes in exchange for very few social services will definitely not leave And people that pay very little in taxes but consume a disproportionate share of services and welfare will definitely not move in Damn it's just a perfect plan |
Isn’t it? Very ahead of the curve in intelligence. |
Your 2nd statement proves to me you don't have a clue wtf you're talking about. MD is one of the most taxed states in the US. |
If this is really the attitude it is absolute garbage and the reason the Democrats keep losing over and over again. |
If other surrounding states would just raise their own tax rates in-kind, this wouldn't be an issue. But even without that, it's a very effective way to peacefully "cleanse" the state of racists and others who would move away because of higher contributions. We don't want these people here to begin with, so if this would incentivize them to leave, then that's even better. I agree, many high tax contributors will NOT leave, because they understand the importance of what they contribute. People will move in, yes. And as they make use of programs provided to them, they will become better educated, live a better quality of life, and earn more money, allowing them to contribute more in taxes. This really isn't rocket science. It works just fine in Europe. |
MD lost 1.7 billion when 31,000 left during O'Malley's millionaire tax from 2007 to 2010. So if they lost money, that proves the people who did come to MD didn't fill the gap. Also when he taxed smokes and alcohol, there was a shortfall in the projected revenue. It stands to reason a small state which borders less expensive states will lose money when such short sighted taxes are raised. You want high taxes? Move to California. And with all large amount of homeless in Frisco and LA on the streets, that should be a clue higher taxes is not the answer. |
Did the Sun editorial board support the Red Line? I don't recall. |
