| Do share what these clubs are, so people can avoid them. At U11 kids should be getting equal playing time and switching positions. If they're not, you're at the wrong club. |

In our experience, it’s rare for this kind of thing in the U littles. This is for several kids and many clubs. They all
Had the chance to play in multiple positions and play was distributed amongst the roster, which was side appropriate in every case. I’m not saying slotting U littles in a single position and larger rosters don’t happen anywhere, but to speak of it like it’s the norm is a big stretch. |
This is rarely a club thing. Usually a specific coach thing. Outing a club would do no real good. That said, in a travel environment, even at U11 the expectation of equal playing time for all players is not realistic. Expected equal playing time = Rec not travel. |

I finally went in and asked since kid was not making leeway by asking the Coach himself.
I was told that my kid sees the field the best so that is why he is played in that position. They said he is incredibly versatile. I told them he is versatile because we made sure he has always been playing a variety of positions since he started playing the game. We also coached him in the earliest years so we could move him and his teammates everywhere on the field, even keeper. If they never move him at 10, he's going to lose that versatility. TD agreed he should be moving around the field and will talk to Coach again. We will see if anything comes of it. |
Hope it works out for you, the intended result seems to always have consequences with other parents and the coach regardless of the approach and truth. |
| On my son’s team everyone has a primary position but the kids might move out of that position for a few minutes of the game depending on the needs of the team. The exception is my son who never ever plays anywhere but GK. Based on DCUM advice we planned to leave but stayed at the last minute after having a heart to heart with the coach. He was able to give very specific reasons for having my son specialize. We spoke to my son and discovered that he felt exactly as the coach did that GK was the position that he was best suited for. We’re glad we stayed as now that he’s older we can see that the coach’s assessment of strengths and weaknesses was very accurate. Further, the coach has gone above and beyond to coach him in the position which rarely happens with GK. |
Thanks. Can you elaborate? |
| If you can imagine it going sideways, it will. |

Your kid will be moved to a different, more preferred position. People will know it's because you went to the TD/ coach about it.
"It's all political here," they'll say. |
Huh? |
Only if he tells them. |
