1- No processed snack of any kind in house,
2- no soda or sugar drink in the house,
3- have a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner with strict calories intake everyday. Those meals should have healthy contents and lot of fruit and vegetable. this should be a lifetime goal,
4- hire a personal trainer to help him with his everyday work out. this should be a lifetime goal

There's nothing wrong with seeking expert advice. And weight loss issues are not "easy." If they were, half our country wouldn't be obese.

It is actually quite easy. You do not see many obese 13 years old Asians, do you?

What an ignorant thing to say. Many Asian families I know don't do any of the above except #2.

OP- don’t listen to this nonsense and good for you for getting your son help. I was an obese Tween, my siblings trim. I was a competitive swimmer and swam for 90 mins 5x a week plus weekend meets. We had zero processed food and certainly no refined sugar or soda. My mother bought the kind of peanut butter you grind at the store with the peanuts, there was only whole wheat grain bread (usually homemade), lots of veggies, tofu, lean meats and my mother’s idea of dessert was homemade yogurt with berries and wheat germ or a frozen banana. My Mother took me to weight watchers and I lost some weight but what really helped was learning that for me, carbs pack on the pounds...any kind...sweet potatoes, oatmeal, whole grains, etc. My Mom read some book about blood type or body type and diet, we changed my diet to berries, lean protein and non-starchy veggies with a limit of one dairy item a day and the lbs melted. I do not know one but I hope you find the help your son needs.
