DC is a sophomore at Denison and super happy.

Happy that your daughter is doing well but, really don't understand the post. If I tell you my kid is hating it or loving it how does that affect you and your daughter?

OP, mine had a rocky first two weeks but I’m seeing a change. He could’ve come home for the storm and he said no.

I still don't see how my kid's liking a school has anything to do with op's kid doing well at school. Surely, we all know there are kids who are going to thrive right away, some struggle and then thrive and then some who drop out.

Yes, us too! Oh well. He told my DH last week he was getting food from the cafeteria and just bringing it back to his room to eat, so that was kind of depressing. I won’t name the school because it isnt a national university or SLAC so it wouldnt matter to anyone on DCUM.

Sorry to hear this. Don’t give up hope. I was miserable for the first few months (after winter break actually) and then I met the right people and it all changed.

Not really. But GPA, while okay, is too low to transfer anywhere better, so it is what it is.

My daughter is a sophomore at Oberlin and loving her second year even more than the first. She feels more self confident this year and has decided on a major, found an advisor, works on campus and enjoys being back “home” with the good friends she made last year. She had an easy time last year but others in her group took a while to feel comfortable so don’t stress if your child isn’t perfectly happy right away.

My kid is also at Pomona but the distance is difficult for both of us - no Fall Break or Thanksgiving at home...

Washington and Lee for my daughter. So far she’s having a great time and is very happy. Definitely feeling the anxiety regarding the amount of work, but that’s kinda who she is. I was hoping that would change but I didn’t expect it.
