What despicable is the chairman of the board of Achievement Prep is now running for State Board of Education in ward 1...how can you punish a woman for coming forward after a sexual assault?!? Then try to run for a position of power?? Really messed up if you ask me. |

I mentioned earlier, the Board Chair at Achievement Prep (who has not even commented on their decision to put the teacher on involuntary leave) is running for SBOE in Ward 1. Pretty wretched if you ask me.
Here is a twitter thread someone sent to me that is getting traction, calling for the Mayor's Office to take action: https://twitter.com/kdrkrepp/status/1049377503649775616 |

Callie Kozlak has my vote--and Steve Bumbaugh's endorsement which is gold to me!
|
| Callie is an ed reform candidate like Jason, I don’t agree with her visions for education in Ward 1, but at least it makes sense why she would run. Jason I have no idea what that man thinks he’s doing. |

The principal at Achievement Prep has resigned since the incident. How sickening of Emily Gasoi’s camp to capitalize on a sexual assault for political gain. They’ve been trying to forcibly drag the victim back into the spotlight for an endorsement. The truth is that the matter has been settled quietly.
I’m voting for the only DC Public School teacher in the race: Callie Kozlak! Emily is a consultant. She’s banking on winning the election to get more clients. |
The board has no power, as stated by the reporter of the article. But Emily Gasoi and team will stop at nothing for political gain. Sexual assaults are not for you to capitalize on!

The irony of someone in Callie’s campaign using this issue for political gain *in this post* aside, Jason Andrean is running for SBOE. The school where he is Board Chair put a teacher on involuntary leave after she came forward about a sexual assault (Google it for reference). The fact that calls from the community for him to explain the leadership decision to punish a survivor as being politically motivated is DISGUSTING! So whenever someone in power doesn’t want to talk about the consequences of silencing a survivor they can claim political motivation to dismiss it? Sound familiar?

Again, the irony of this post using the sexual assault of a teacher at Jason’s school against Emily aside, men in power have been screaming “politically motivated!” when they want to dismiss the voices of women who come forward. Advocates who have nothing to do with the SBOE race are calling for an explanation. This teacher was silenced when she was sent home and couldn’t say goodbye to her students, which may have hurt more than losing $3200. Now Jason, who is accountable to this decision, doesn’t want to comment, and his surrogates are saying it’s “political” so he doesn’t have to. We can’t keep letting people in power skirt their responsibility.

| Wow, the perpetrator, who was at school event while high on drugs, spent a whole 30 days in jail. That should make everyone feel oh so safe. |
