I have no clue why trump lovers are wetting themselves over this. It is a government aircraft paid for my the taxpayers.

If trump used his our private plane at his own expense, I would give him credit. He didn’t. He sent OUR aircraft at OUR expense.

Back in 2001, I worked on staff for a Member of congress who died while in office. The President (Bush) approved the member's DC staff to fly on the plane used by VP Cheney to SC for the his funeral. We flew down and back in one day. It was not called AF2 because Cheney wasn't on it.
I assume process hasn't changed.

In other words, it's not all that unusual or a sign of unusual benevolence for the president to okay the use of a government airplane in the case of funerals for sitting members of congress.

But, yes, denying use of the plane to transport the body and family of a sitting member of congress would be disrespectful. I'm mildly surprised Trump allowed it but don't think he deserves any special acclaim for following presidential norms, even if that is something of an exception for him.
