Plenty of people lie in state without be carried on government aircraft. Billy Graham, for example. Do you literally just make things up? |
|
Thank you Mr. President for allowing this grace to the petty snake, McCain, and his family of snakes. |
Snakes on a Plane |
Billy Graham was never an elected representative of our government, Moron. |
Why can't Cindy use her own money from her vast beer business to pay for some of this extravaganza? She is worth millions but decided to ask Trump for government handout? |
|
I have no clue why trump lovers are wetting themselves over this. It is a government aircraft paid for my the taxpayers.
If trump used his our private plane at his own expense, I would give him credit. He didn’t. He sent OUR aircraft at OUR expense. |
trump gave the handout. He is the chump who spent taxpayer money. |
Trump supporters have nothing left. This whole thread is really pathetic. |
Oh, I see, only elected representatives who lie in state have a right to be carried on a government plane? Is that the rule? Can you please tell us where it is written? |
|
Back in 2001, I worked on staff for a Member of congress who died while in office. The President (Bush) approved the member's DC staff to fly on the plane used by VP Cheney to SC for the his funeral. We flew down and back in one day. It was not called AF2 because Cheney wasn't on it.
I assume process hasn't changed. |
In other words, it's not all that unusual or a sign of unusual benevolence for the president to okay the use of a government airplane in the case of funerals for sitting members of congress. |
Exactly. Trump says yes: he’s wasting our tax dollars and oh btw it’s not AF2 Trump says no: omg what a monster to deny an American hero and his family this honor |
I believe the first, calling McCain's family names, is a Trumpster. Liberals tend to be lukewarm on McCain but respectful. The hate is coming from the right. But, yes, denying use of the plane to transport the body and family of a sitting member of congress would be disrespectful. I'm mildly surprised Trump allowed it but don't think he deserves any special acclaim for following presidential norms, even if that is something of an exception for him. |
Presidental norms? What other presidents did this? Curious. If it’s normal wouldn’t we know about it? |
Trump is wealthy too, he should foot all the security and travel bills playing golf. |
