Protests about Princess Eugenie's Wedding

Anonymous
Eugenie and Bea have spent years playing the "sophisticates" with their weird outfits and continental partying. They've got some repair work to do.

These people are idiots for protesting. The monarchy provides a lot in tourism dollars.

Prince Charles has the right to refuse. He's the future King and his mother is backing him. They don't need MORE full-time royals. There's already the Queen, Prince Phillip, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Michael of Kent, and at least 8 spouses to account for.

Those two girls need to earn a place in regular society.

They spent a lot and I mean a LOT of time partying in South America.

Beatrice’s job in NY is mostly for show. She holidays more than almost everyone else. Eugenie’s job seems more real but neither of them carry out official duties, so their weddings should be more like the ones for Anne’s kids than Charles’.

Zara Tindall's wedding was perfect and should have been enough for Eugenie. Now they've got the press and public on their asses and for what? She's never going to be a working Royal and I question if Charles will let her stick around in Kensington once he's King.

What's wrong with Beatrice and Eugenie getting jobs like Princess Anne's kids? Their father already supports their lifestyle and they will marry rich. The Brits don't need more people just standing around cutting ribbons and making speeches.

QEII has a soft spot for Andrew and has quietly run interference for him and his hideous daughters. Charles detests them and doesn't speak to his sleazy brother.

They would have said you American's just had to go and top our Brexit by voting for the guy from the Apprentice!!! LOL!
Since the royal family isn't elected, government officials who have a specific start and end date differ from people who become rich and famous from the second they are born to the second they die. Andrew is probably a bitter Betty because his "line" is eclipsed by William and Harry. This wedding is his family's shining moment since the future of the monarchy is all about William and his children. They are cousins, but one more child from Kate or Meghan and his daughters no longer crack the top 10. William's children reduce their footprint even further. BTW which one is Eugenie, the redhead or the brunette?

Eugenie and Beatrice both have real jobs, although Beatrice's was rather a long time coming. They both got decent exam scores and decent i undergraduate degrees. They also have trust funds from the Queen Mother, and this gives them the cash to live a decent upper middle class lifestyle, even in London. They are not, however , flush enough to have endless vacations or fairy tale weddings or apartments at Kensington Palace. The Queen is covering that, as well as her other children's expenses. Really, Charles is probably the only one who doesn't need to be underwritten.

Princess Anne's son sold photos of his wedding to Hello magazine for several hundred thousand pounds. The Queen put a moratorium on that sort of thing.

Windsor town council should just have denied their permit for a carriage ride if they don't want to foot the security bill. That said, that town always seems to have some group in costumes parad ing through the streets

No, the entire expense comes from the fact that she wants an open-air carriage ride. The price of the security detail would drop by 1.5 million without that.

I had an open air carriage ride at my wedding. It was romantic. You're saying that Eugenie shouldn't because of the possibility of a terrorist attack. So you think the terrorists should win.

What is with you and the terrorists?

Government MPs and many of the public think Eugenie shouldn't have a carriage ride because she's NOBODY. She doesn't work as a royal. She shouldn't be costing 2 million in security.

Andrew's always been a spoiled brat (demanding his daughters get an HRH when Princess Anne didn't) but this takes the cake. Let HIM pay for it.

That's the law in England and has been for a long time. Children of monarch's sons get called HRH. Anne's kids aren't entitled to that because she's a woman (same reason Queen Elizabeth's cousins through her aunt Mary aren't HRH) and they don't have any other titles because her husband didn't want a title. Andrew didn't make any "demands." Yes, it's admirable that Anne and Edward tried to keep their kids out of the spotlight by reducing their titles but that doesn't mean Andrew has to make the same choice.

2MM is a drop in the bucket. People have other motives if they ‘re complaining about this.

But is her fiance as rich as I'm sure these men were? He works at a liquor company?

Then Andrew should have no problem paying.

2 MM is a drop in the bucket for the UK. Not a single person. Her mother has been bankrupt. She’s just a 30 year old. She shouldn’t have to spend all her fortune on security that’s necessary because of her title and the roles of her family.
