+1. Not worth the risk. Also don't allow raisins, popcorn, nuts, chewy candy, hard candy, raw vegetables like carrots. we still peel pretty much all fruit and veggies, meat is cut up tiny. I know it sounds over the top but it's a short time in their life when choking is a big risk.

Raisins? I consider myself pretty risk adverse and am on board with most of this list, but raisins? How are these a choking hazard?

If your kid is behind on their chewing skills, then cut the blueberries.

We used to just smoosh the blueberries a little, so that they weren't so hard and round.

But my DS is almost 2 and we've stopped that for him. I do still cut his grapes in half, especially because sometimes grapes are HUGE.

I just smoosh blueberries so they aren't windpipe shaped.

I don't cut blueberries anymore for my 16 month old. Grapes I cut in quarters.

DD is 2.5. I cut up hot dogs, carrots, grapes, and cherry tomatoes. She doesn't eat nuts (I have a nut allergy, so they aren't in the house anyway), popcorn, hard candy, or suckers. DH thinks I'm paranoid and overly cautious but stories of choking deaths at this age freak me out, and I remember choking on a sucker myself when I was 3.
She's always eaten blueberries whole, though. She tends to mash them with her fingers half the time anyway, and she's good at chewing them.

No. It's a tiny amount of work for something you obviously perceive as a big risk.

Same at 19mos. I also cut up hotdogs and cherry tomatoes and raw carrots. We don't give her grapes or raisins (or chocolate) at home because she still throws food at the dog periodically, and he can't have those.

Making your kids sit down when they eat is probably better advice than cutting blueberries.

They’re not - literally zero reported cases of choking on raisins throughout the US

That pp seems over the top. I don’t give my toddler candy but they can eat raisins and popcorn. Lol

This is my third kid though.

I cut large grapes and blueberries for all 3 kids, ages 2,4 and 7. I had stopped cutting hot dogs for the 4 year old until we recently had a choking incident that required the Heimlich maneuver. It was very scary.

It’s just not worth it. It takes 2 mins to cut things up.

You can buy anti choking devices on amazon. They are good to have at home. You put it over their mouth and it creates pressure that sucks the item back out.

One if LifeVac, there are others.

No for my 2.5 year old. I only cut grapes. She sucks the cherry tomatoes because she’s odd. I also don’t allow running to walking with food and it’s all eaten at the table under supervision.
