Chance of possible HS magnet test/entrance requirement changes for the upcoming school year?

If the smartest students are not chosen for the magnets it is a disservice to everyone who goes to these programs. The hatred towards academic merit and intelligentsia is the hallmark of communist totalitarian nations.

According to MCPS documents we should expect a change or at least a pilot program this year (or next at the latest) at the HS level in response to the Metis report.

No. It rocks if you have smart white or Asian kids and live in an integrated neighborhood, actually. The only people impacted are the people who have been claiming for years that their schools are the only ones in MCPS worth attending, because of the "peer group." Now that the kids have to go to middle school with the same peers, though, it is suddenly the gravest injustice since Jim Crow.

The whole point of the magnet was to convince rich white parents to opt into desegregating depressed schools on the poorer side of the county. It was the carrot on the end of the stick. The other half got jealous that they weren’t getting carrots so the county had to cook the books to hand out some carrots to URMs. Just remember Banneker is a “magnet” school too. That might be where the level falls to at blair.

Take it to the Supreme Court, Abigail Fisher.
