Skipping school shopping as a way to save money

I bought all the grandkid's uniforms and shoes this year. Gift cards for supplies. Gotta help out sometimes.

Back to school shopping in our house means school supplies! DD is happily trolling the Walmart and staples sales for loss leaders that are on her list.

I do have two kids who need new backpacks this year and all three will need new sneakers. One will need a winter coat, so there will definitely be an outlet trip when we are on vacation next week. Oldest needs uniform khakis, so I took advantage of the old navy sale. We will hit the thrift shop for oxford shirts when he needs them. I hope that list doesn’t get much longer because the budget isn’t there for much more.

We buy shoes and jeans at minimum because those are usually shot.

Or, for $2-3 buy new and they don't look worn out. Then, sell them at a consignment sale.

I’ve purchased things from Unique that were maybe worn a once or twice, if at all. A few items were brand new (still had tags on).
