H1N1 Vaccine

Anonymous
I'm not a Montgomery County resident and got it today in Silver Spring. One of the workers there told me they don't care where I live. It's free and available to all that fit in to a priority group.

I'm pregnant but not showing -- do I have to prove I'm pregnant?

Is the vaccine in Mont County thimerisol free for preg women and for children?

The links a PP posted with MC locations were very helpful, thank you. I will try next Wednesday. I too am not showing yet, and while I doubt they'll ask for proof, I'll take my US pic just in case.

FYI, according to the CDC, the H1N1 vaccine "will be made using the same processes and facilities that are used to make the currently licensed seasonal influenza vaccines" http://cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/public/vaccination_qa_pub.htm. I believe that means that it is identical to the seasonal flu vaccine except for the strains it is targeted to reach, and thus as safe as the seasonal flu vaccine. "In their seasonal vaccine formulation [they] have been shown to be among the safest vaccines that exist." Also, the H1N1 vac HAS been tested in pregnant women.

No, today no one had to "prove" being pregnant. They didn't care at all today. There were women there who said they are pregnant but weren't showing (so they chose the shot rather than the mist)

I didn't see them turn anyone away and there were people there who didn't appear to be in a priorty group at all (i.e. 60 years old and looked healthy).

I'm a patient of hers. I asked and was told she will not be offering it.

On the form you sign when you get it, it explains that there have been a ton of studies and they all show there is no autism-thimerisol link, so it's not a problem to get the vaccine if you are pregnant.

That doesn't really answer the question, not at all.

I think the PP was just pointing out that you don't need to wait for the thimerosal-free version, you can just get the regular swine flu vaccine.

I've done my own research and I *want* the thimerisol-free one. PP was right that that wasn't my question.

Well then why don't you call MoCo and ask for yourself? If they have that explanation, I think you can infer that the vaccines they're offering are not thimerosal free.

Silver Spring did NOT have thimerosal-free injections yesterday. I am actually allergic to thimerosal and pregnant. After speaking with a couple of professionals, the risk of H1N1 far outweighed any allergic reaction I may potentially have gotten and no one knows if and when a thimerosal-free injection will be available. I went ahead and got the injection with thimerosal yesterday. I was fine. Frankly, any fear of a remote autism link to thimerosal was the farthest thing from my mind.

Today I waited for 4 hours but finally got my H1N1 flu shot in Manassas Mall.

Are you a PW county resident? Do they require PW county residency? I was thinking about going there but wasn't sure if there was a residency requirement.
